Eau Claire Countryside - 2019

Lake Wissota/Chippewa River - 2018

Von der Sonne geküsst  (Sun Kissed) is what the owners of this new Lake Wissota home call this property.

Combining angular lines, large windows, and multiple openings to the sun at different times of the day - this home is light filled, warm and inviting.

Cooler colors balance the warmth of sunlight across hard surfaces designed for hot-tubbing and lake living.  Those cool color tiles and polished cement may look cold to the foot, but in floor heat keeps the occupants in bare feet year round.

The property has many custom touches. The staircase is a combination of wood handrails, metal floating framing and granite treads.  The powder room adds soft under onyx lighting atop a slender metal leg, faced with a rough cut wood.  The front porch is given visual interest by combining massive steel posts with an exposed wood ceiling.  

2018 Long Lake

A gas explosion nearby caused irreparable damage to the family cabin that previously sat on this lot.  The fireplace in the cabin had stones hand picked by the family - with beautiful crystals and colors - a cherished memory we wanted to keep with the family.  We painstakingly removed the stones from the old cabin and made sure to re-purpose them in the new fireplace.

The home was designed with windowscaping as a priority.  Like many lake homes, the view to the lake is central, but neighboring homes can be very close. 
Large windows lakeside combined with open concept planning maximize views of the lake across multiple entertaining spaces.  To minimize the views of the neighboring houses, yet still allow the home to be light filled, the window design is shifted higher.  This keeps the light and openness - giving the view of trees and sky, without a direct view of the neighbors.

2018 Chippewa Valley Home Builders Association People's Choice Award Winner!

Located on one of the few remaining lots in this neighborhood by Robbins Elementary School, this 3,724 square foot home was a crowd favorite because of all of the unique touches with a mix of farmhouse and modern trends. This custom home includes: a covered patio with an outdoor stone fireplace and kitchen, handcrafted metal railing and light box, paver parking apron and walkway, custom zinc topped bar, and unique accent walls.

Sand Creek 2017

Many years ago, a small town grocery store and small family home sat on this property.  The store and home were owned by the parents of the current homeowner.  After many years away, the longing to come home again brought an idea to life - How to utilize a beautiful peninsula between a creek and river for a new family home.  The unique size and shape of the buildable portion of the lot dictated some layout limitations, but also opened up some very striking view opportunities.  Thanks so much to this family for trusting us to help develop a new portion of their family history on the property!

Modern Farmhouse

This modern structure captures the old - Victorian Hex tile in the bathroom, a foot pedal at the kitchen sink, metal roofing and a butler's pantry and blends those elements with modern touches like a living edge bench, a custom stainless dining table, metal pergolas and a hanging daybed in the sun room. We built this home with lake livability at the forefront.  The lot faces to the East/South East and sets up for amazing sunrises.  Windowscaping captures lake views from all possible angles.  A sunroom allows a private space to soak it all in.  Main level living incorporates both a master suite and second suite for mother-in-law or an in home office.  The lower level has bedrooms for guests or children, a family room and a walkout to the lake side.  This home is currently available for sale.

Chippewa River 2016

Outside and inside blend in this home.  Large windowscaping, a screen porch with retractable screens and an outdoor kitchen all maximize on this beautiful river setting.  When the temps drop, there are large indoor spaces to entertain and a cozy wine tasting room to please the palate. Eau Claire South - Thistledown 2015

The client loved the idea of giving old items new life and we do too!  There are reclaimed tin ceilings in the living room and master bedroom.  The Master Bath features a new again claw-foot tub and stained glass window. Two wooden columns the used to frame an entrance in a Saint Paul building now frame the entrance to the dining room. Lake Wissota Chippewa River 2014

Stunning 2014 Parade Home designed and built by Signature Homes of the Chippewa Valley, LLC. This unique builder's home was planned and built around the slopes and shapes of a special lot on Lake Wissota. The result is an amazing home that features a cantilevered room with spectacular views of both the water and a wooded ravine.
The home has three floors with well thought out living spaces. The upper floor is built for children or guests - 2 bedrooms, a full bath and an open loft sitting area. Main floor living incorporates an open flow from the living room, dining room, kitchen, sitting area and foyer. A powder room and laundry room round out the family spaces. The master suite has a spacious walk in closet, a soak tub, walk in shower and room for your king sized bed. The lower level is both work and play. There are two offices (one could be converted to a fourth bedroom), ample storage space, a family room and game table area along with a bath and bar. The lower and main floors each have their own zones for whole house sound - for both interior and exterior living spaces.
The outdoor spaces also feature three wonderful areas. Pulling in from the street, you'll find wildflower plantings in front of both a detached two car garage (great for water toy storage) and the home with attached heated two car garage. The lake side of the main level has both a patio for outdoor dining and a small sitting space to enjoy the lake views. Walk down a few steps made of beautiful Chilton stones and you arrive at the middle tier of the yard. The space offers a private setting for the hot tub and another sitting space to enjoy both the lake and wooded ravine views. Finally, the lower area is level with the lake and features a large fire pit in a wooded setting.

Warm, welcoming and solid - just like the family we built the home for!  The home features many touches that set it apart.  Floors are reclaimed from a southern factory.  The kitchen has an over sized island for cooking and entertaining - so big that we called it a continent. Details abound - like the customized metal returns on the stairwell. I’ve always dreamed of having a clean, modernist home, and I’m happy to say that Alice and her team at Atelier Cohen led the way to making that dream a reality! I couldn’t be more happy with the project, my house looks like it could be featured in a Kinfolk magazine.
